Mike Marando joined the Randle team in 2015 with more than 30 years of experience in communications, public affairs and media relations. Marando previously served as a Randle communications consultant, providing media outreach and coalition building on behalf of various agency clients.
Marando provides executive writing and communications expertise to the California Association of REALTORS®, California Hospital Association, California Earthquake Authority, the Mattress Recycling Council and Friant Water Authority.
Prior to joining Randle, Marando served as deputy director of communications for the California Department of Motor Vehicles and previously held senior communications positions at the California Trade and Commerce Agency and California Office of Traffic Safety.
A native of Rock Island, Ill., Marando is a former sports writer for The Sacramento Union, news editor at the Woodland Daily Democrat and sports editor for Sacramento Suburban Newspapers. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from California State University, Sacramento. He is a member of the Rancho Cordova Sports Hall of Fame Advisory Committee and is a past president of the California State Information Officers Council.
Marando previously served as the public address announcer at Raley Field for the Sacramento River Cats. He and his wife, Donna, and their dog, Betsey, live in Sacramento.
